Well its Thanksgiving today!! my first one, which is very cool!!

I think more countries should celebrate this every year!! (not to do with the pilgrims but to do with them being grateful and shit)
Yesterday i went out with my host mom to buy a turkey!! WOW they have turkey farms just for this day! its kinda creepy to think that over 45 MILLION turkeys are eaten today... you'd think the poor birds would become extinct!!
And the shopping centers were crazzyyy people were EVERYWHERE!! it was insane, but in a good way, though i wouldnt like to do that whole rush thing every year!!

At the moment the Macy's thanksgiving day parade is going on down the streets of New York, so we are watching it on the television. Its very cool, and thousands go out to have a look!!

One thing that sucks bad is i am sick on my first thanksgiving... i've literally lost my voice (and for those who know me that SUCKS) i am a chatter box... usually.. and i have absolutely no appetite at all..
Last night i was having fever's and all the good stuff... Gotta love that weather change!!

But the house does smell lovely!! all different foods cooking.

Tomorrow i'm going to see Disney playful?? its not on Ice but its all the Disney characters going their 'thing' i am very much looking forward to that, i just hope i feel better for it!!

Okies thats all i have in me right now, i'm off to rest. Happy Thanksgiving xo

ok folks heres some photos and info from the start my lil adventure in the USofA... So that is the house i'm currently living in :) >>>

I look after 3 children;Jacob1, Sydney 4 and Hayden 7.

So i arrived in JFK airport on Octo
ber 12th 2009, it had taken two 14.25hr flights to get from Australia to America (don't a
sk me why, the agency took me the long way) i was EXTREMELY over flying and some what tired!!

i get myself through customs and immigration only to find NO ONE waiting for me at the airport...
It was nearing 6pm, i was stressed out, and it was my very first trip over seas and to walk out of customs with no one there was a BITCH... I advise you not too trust in organisations to pick you up when they say they will!!

So after about half an hour i started to panic!! i was being haggled by the bloody taxi people at the airport and it was getting dark fast... My bloody phone has lost battery (typical)
and the emergency number for Au Pair closed after 5pm (WTF!!!)

So, like the big girl i am i cried, and walked around awkwardly until an idea struck me...
Call my host family from the information desks telephone... WOW that was simple if only i'd though of that nearly an hour earlier...

I call up my host parents to get their Au pair at the time (Ella) pick up the phone, she was shocked but not surprised when i informed her that i hadn't been picked up!!
What she did next was awesome! She called like 40 different people, told them they were incompetent and finally got some one to pick me the fuck up!!
About 20mins later someone was there to pick me up! erghhh! i could go to the hotel and sleeeeppppp!! over the next 3 days i met some
really awesome girls from all over the world.

I got to my house a few days after i'd arrived in the Country.
WOW.... i was so naive...

I really didn't think i'd get this 'culture' shock my agency spoke so much about!! But i got it....
My first impression of American's was that they were very abrupt and rude. ( I know i'd only met like 5, but i was getting 'accustomed' to my new way of life) haha.

I kept comparing EVERYTHING American's did to what was done in Australia! (i'm sure i bugged a few people after a while) and anytime some one asked me about my country i went on this big sales pitch like i worked for flight center or something!!

I'd like to think a little of a month into it that i'm adjusting quite well!!
I'm starting to really enjoy my experiences and find most American's quirky and funny. :)

During my first week in the country i received an email from a Brazilian au pair named Mariana, she explained to me that she was going to her host families beach house in Long Beach Island, and asked me if i wanted to come along!

My legs felt like jelly afterwards and the wind was so strong that i couldn't breath when i stepped out of the light house!!I said yes! and it was a really great weekend.
Shitty weather but fun non the less!! We decided to walk up a 217 set of stairs in a light house!

After that weekend it was soon to be Halloween!!
Fuck yeah!
I'm pretty sure every Aussie who goes to this country wants to experience Halloween in America!!

Mariana, Gisele and I decided to so to Salem MA (the 'witching' city) to celebrate Halloween!!
We caught a train to NYC and from there we bussed it to Boston...
Got to Boston at 4.15am and the bastard hostel that we were staying at (The Farrington Inn) wouldn't let us check in until 8am!!!
Yeah the next couple of hours went slow...
Finally 8am came around and we went into the creepy hostel to get changed into our halloween costumes!! I went as a vampire!!! (going with the whole twilight theme!!)
It was very funny walking to the train stop, at 10am... We were the only people in Boston dressed up at that time!!

Once we got to the train station that would take us to Salem, we saw PLENTY of people in costumes!!
Some people asked to have photos with us, that was fun :)

An hour or so later we hit Salem!!
Wow that place is... different... its like walking into a time museum (but one that has cars and what not) it was very weird!! all the weird and colorful people were out and about that day!!

We went on a Witching tour of Salem, with a lady who practiced in voodoo but dressed like a witch!
It was very interesting to hear all about the history of Salem and about the witch hysteria.

Might i just add at this point that EVERY male i saw in Boston that weekend was good looking! (ok apart from the hostel dude) but W.o.w they sure know how to procreate in that city!!

The bus ride home from Boston was interesting... i felt like we were on a truck in the middle of mexico trying to cross the US boarder!!!
Either that or the driver was trying to kill us!
he drove CRAZZZYYYY and the bus was well... very 60's...

But for now thats the only real adventures i've had in the US, like i've posted before i'm going to a 30SECONDS TO MARS concert in December (i cannot wait for that!!)
I will be sure to keep posting my lil adventures for who ever wants to read em...
And i'm planning on going of a cruise in the NYC harbor for NYE :)

Okies lots of loves xo Bek

Ok so i finally received the 30 SECONDS TO MARS promo material i wanted. >>>
its pretty fucking wicked and i'm keen to get around and 'paint the city MARS'
Would be lovely if i had some MARS fanatics around to plaster the city with, but im quite capable of doing it by myself or convincing other friends to go along for the ride...

One of the children i look after has the suspected 'swine' flu... so she's up in bed looking/feeling a little worse for wear... But PEOPLE its just a flu, like every other bloody flu, yet people are getting all testy about it... its rather amusing.

i shall post up some pic's of my house in NJ and of the lil adventures i've been on so far :)

Laters Bek xo

Ok so a few weeks ago my mother says to me, 'Bek create a blog, they are cool and its an easy way for people to see what your up to whilst your in America'

Me, being me, i dismiss it, i say ' yeah mum couldn't be bothered, blogs are shit ya ya yaaa.'

So today I'm on my twitter account http://twitter.com/Bek_Waters and a girl re tweets this persons blog and tells everyone to read it, being rather bored i decided i didn't have anything to lose and i opened the link.

The blog was (imboycrazy) i started reading it, found the girl hilarious and decided fuck it I'll start my own blog.

Ok granted i might not be as funny as her, but i figured i have a lot to say so 'why the fuck not'

All About Bek:

As you can see the names Bek, I'm from the fabulous country Australia, but decided i was young and i had 'itchy feet' so i decided to become an Au Pair and go live in America for a year or two.

I've been here for just over a month now, some days i love it other days i miss home like crazy.
You know how it is...
I've noticed that doing something like this makes you self evaluate a lot. Even when you don't want to.
But that's life and this is a great learning curve...
I hope to see lots of fantastic things and meet lots of crazy people over the next year!

Next month (Dec) I'm flying from where i live (NJ) to Cleveland Ohio for a http://twitter.com/30secondstomars concert!! Yeah one thing you'll realize is i LOVE that fucking band! yeah that love affair started when i was 17 when i was still in school!

They're a GREAT band and you should def check em out ;)

So yeah, Love music, love movies I'm quite the movie buff, love acting :), love books, LOVVVVEEE to travel (even though I've just started), love family and love my friends.

I write my own poems and songs every now and then...
I wouldn't say they were the best, but they come from the heart so i take pride in them :)

Ok that's all the shit i can muster up right now.

Cheers Bek xo
