ok folks heres some photos and info from the start my lil adventure in the USofA... So that is the house i'm currently living in :) >>>

I look after 3 children;Jacob1, Sydney 4 and Hayden 7.

So i arrived in JFK airport on Octo
ber 12th 2009, it had taken two 14.25hr flights to get from Australia to America (don't a
sk me why, the agency took me the long way) i was EXTREMELY over flying and some what tired!!

i get myself through customs and immigration only to find NO ONE waiting for me at the airport...
It was nearing 6pm, i was stressed out, and it was my very first trip over seas and to walk out of customs with no one there was a BITCH... I advise you not too trust in organisations to pick you up when they say they will!!

So after about half an hour i started to panic!! i was being haggled by the bloody taxi people at the airport and it was getting dark fast... My bloody phone has lost battery (typical)
and the emergency number for Au Pair closed after 5pm (WTF!!!)

So, like the big girl i am i cried, and walked around awkwardly until an idea struck me...
Call my host family from the information desks telephone... WOW that was simple if only i'd though of that nearly an hour earlier...

I call up my host parents to get their Au pair at the time (Ella) pick up the phone, she was shocked but not surprised when i informed her that i hadn't been picked up!!
What she did next was awesome! She called like 40 different people, told them they were incompetent and finally got some one to pick me the fuck up!!
About 20mins later someone was there to pick me up! erghhh! i could go to the hotel and sleeeeppppp!! over the next 3 days i met some
really awesome girls from all over the world.

I got to my house a few days after i'd arrived in the Country.
WOW.... i was so naive...

I really didn't think i'd get this 'culture' shock my agency spoke so much about!! But i got it....
My first impression of American's was that they were very abrupt and rude. ( I know i'd only met like 5, but i was getting 'accustomed' to my new way of life) haha.

I kept comparing EVERYTHING American's did to what was done in Australia! (i'm sure i bugged a few people after a while) and anytime some one asked me about my country i went on this big sales pitch like i worked for flight center or something!!

I'd like to think a little of a month into it that i'm adjusting quite well!!
I'm starting to really enjoy my experiences and find most American's quirky and funny. :)

During my first week in the country i received an email from a Brazilian au pair named Mariana, she explained to me that she was going to her host families beach house in Long Beach Island, and asked me if i wanted to come along!

My legs felt like jelly afterwards and the wind was so strong that i couldn't breath when i stepped out of the light house!!I said yes! and it was a really great weekend.
Shitty weather but fun non the less!! We decided to walk up a 217 set of stairs in a light house!

After that weekend it was soon to be Halloween!!
Fuck yeah!
I'm pretty sure every Aussie who goes to this country wants to experience Halloween in America!!

Mariana, Gisele and I decided to so to Salem MA (the 'witching' city) to celebrate Halloween!!
We caught a train to NYC and from there we bussed it to Boston...
Got to Boston at 4.15am and the bastard hostel that we were staying at (The Farrington Inn) wouldn't let us check in until 8am!!!
Yeah the next couple of hours went slow...
Finally 8am came around and we went into the creepy hostel to get changed into our halloween costumes!! I went as a vampire!!! (going with the whole twilight theme!!)
It was very funny walking to the train stop, at 10am... We were the only people in Boston dressed up at that time!!

Once we got to the train station that would take us to Salem, we saw PLENTY of people in costumes!!
Some people asked to have photos with us, that was fun :)

An hour or so later we hit Salem!!
Wow that place is... different... its like walking into a time museum (but one that has cars and what not) it was very weird!! all the weird and colorful people were out and about that day!!

We went on a Witching tour of Salem, with a lady who practiced in voodoo but dressed like a witch!
It was very interesting to hear all about the history of Salem and about the witch hysteria.

Might i just add at this point that EVERY male i saw in Boston that weekend was good looking! (ok apart from the hostel dude) but W.o.w they sure know how to procreate in that city!!

The bus ride home from Boston was interesting... i felt like we were on a truck in the middle of mexico trying to cross the US boarder!!!
Either that or the driver was trying to kill us!
he drove CRAZZZYYYY and the bus was well... very 60's...

But for now thats the only real adventures i've had in the US, like i've posted before i'm going to a 30SECONDS TO MARS concert in December (i cannot wait for that!!)
I will be sure to keep posting my lil adventures for who ever wants to read em...
And i'm planning on going of a cruise in the NYC harbor for NYE :)

Okies lots of loves xo Bek
